What are Aligners?

Clear aligners, often referred to as ‘invisible braces’ are an extremely popular way to straighten your teeth. A series of custom made transparent trays are made to fit perfectly to your teeth and
gradually move them to the desired position.

What are the Advantages of Aligners over Traditional Braces?

The number 1 advantage of clear aligners is obviously the appearance of them. Unlike traditional braces they are hardly noticeable. Other advantages compared to traditional braces are:

  • Comfort – they are custom fitted to give a snug fit and have no sharp metal wires to dig into your cheeks and gum
  • Diet – you can remove them to eat meaning there are no foods or drinks off limits during treatment
  • Oral Hygiene – they are removable for cleaning meaning you can still brush and floss as normal
  • Less Discomfort – although you may feel slight discomfort whenever you receive new aligners this is generally less then when getting braces inserted and tightened

There is no doubt that if aligners are suitable for you they are a great way to achieve the healthy and beautiful straight smile you have always wanted.

Are They Suitable for me?

As aligners have so many benefits over traditional braces we understand that if given the chance most adult patients will prefer them over traditional braces. There are however some cases that aligners are great for and others where traditional braces will work better. For this reason at Brookwater Dental we are happy to offer an initial obligation free consultation at no charge to see if aligners are rite for you.

Generally speaking they are best for treating adults with mild-moderate crowding, gaps between teeth and protruding teeth. Also it must noted for them to work patients must commit to wearing them for the majority of the day (22 hours) and only take them out for eating and cleaning. If you do not feel you can tolerate this then they may not be for you.

How Does Treatment Work?

At your initial obligation free consultation if we agree that Clear Aligners are rite for you we will book you back for a 30 minute records appointment. At this visit we simply gather more information by taking photos and 3D scans of your teeth which we can study and develop a treatment plan with.

After approximately 1 week we will bring you back to ramp up the excitement and show you in 3D how we are able to straighten your teeth in your mouth. If you are happy with how things look – and we are confident you will be – we will proceed to construct your appliance and have them to you within 2 weeks.

Moving forward you will be required to change your aligners every 2 weeks to the new set. Some of these can be done at home but some will require you to come visit us to make sure everything is tracking and fitting perfectly.

It is important to note that for some cases we need to do make slight teeth adjustments or add “clear buttons” to your teeth to help push them better. If this is the case we will generally do all these adjustments in one visit.

How Much Does it Cost?

The cost of Clear Aligners can vary drastically from clinic to clinic. As always at Brookwater Dental we are committed to providing our patients with the best possible treatment at the best prices possible. For this reason we are happy to be able to deliver this world class treatment at either $3000 for simple one arch only treatment or the amazing price of $5799 for full comprehensive treatment.
